Our favourite restaurants in Rome

Our favourite trattorias in Rome. Authentic food, reasonably priced, and very very good

JUST AROUND THE CORNER

So Called “Prati” district, the residential area around the Vatican. Local shops, local restaurants, and the most expensive neighborhood to live in in Rome. Central but at the same time quiet, airy, well served by the metro, and walking distance from everywhere.

SETTIMIO

Some people love it, some people find it too basic. For sure it is a real basic Trattoria where “Home style” cooking is just “Home Style Cooking”. If you don’t expect anything more than a traditional very Roman Restaurant, than you should experience Settimio.

Via del Pellegrino, 117

Tel.: 06 6880 1978

TRASTEVERE

THE roman neighborhood: nowhere else so many restaurants. Small middle age streets, cozy, a bit crowded at night (but there is a reason for it)

A few tables in a small square in the heart of Trastevere: basic service and a few dishes of the Roman Tradition: this is DA AUGUSTO. Open just from 8:00 PM, this restaurant doesn’t accept reservations: go there, be patient, and wait for a free table. A must in Trastevere

IL DUCA

Our favorite restaurant in Trastevere. If Trastevere is the must to go for dining outside in Rome, this is a must to try. Open only for dinner. Opens at 7:00 PM, better to go as soon as it opens to avoid the crowd.

A LITTLE BIT OUTSIDE THE CENTER

Pizzeria Formula 1 (San Lorenzo – University La Sapienza Area)

This is the absolute must for those who want to try the real “Roman Pizza” … thin, crispy and sometimes over burned … definitely out of the tourists routes, in San Lorenzo, a University and students district, eat this cheap and good pizza … don’t expect to find English speaking waiters … but this is part of the game!
