QuodLibet was one of the first bed and breakfast opened in Rome , and in Italy. Bed and breakfasts are a relatively new type of property in Italy. The first ones were allowed officially to open in 1998 (a hospitality measure taken to face the big amount of pilgrims forecast to come to Rome for the Jubilee of the year 2000). At that time QuodLibet was Quod (somewhere on the web the old website is still online). At that time Quod was a minimal B&B, 3 rooms and just 2 shared bathrooms.
In 2011 a complete change: it became for Gianluca & Consolata a full-time job. A complete renovation (4 rooms all with en-suite bathrooms) was done. The rooms have been all equipped with en-suite Air Conditioning. Quod became QuodLibet. In 2012 other 3 bedrooms on the same floor were added, and in the summer of 2016 is was the turn of the terrace – at the beginning it was a summer open air space, then, in 2018, it started to be full-time breakfast space.
We never wanted to make a snobbish & formal place, but a property with a consistent homy feeling, a place able to really welcome its guests. The word that, according to us, is best suited with the property (and its location) is “comfortably cheerful”. QuodLibet literally means “whatever pleases”. We like the idea that each guest finds in there whatever he/she likes.
Now we really want to thank our guests for their kindness, because in this 9 years, we were able to build a stunning web reputation. Thanks to the thousands of incredible reviews we received, QuodLibet is ranked very high in all the travel websites on line, and it has been listed in some of the best tourist guides (Frommer’s, Lonely Planet).
On Tripadvisor we won the “Best Travellers’ Choice” award in 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 (and we cross the fingers for 2020, since the award for this last year has not been issued yet). Since March 2018 QuodLibet is ranked #1 on Tripadvisor for Bed and Breakfast & Inns in Rome. And in the last few months we become #1 in Italy as well and #3 in Europe. For us, it is just incredible
We keep on doing our hospitality job with attention and passion. But we hardly still can believe how great and kind the guests are with us!
