Christmas morning in Rome is a unique experience—a tranquil and almost magical time when the Eternal City rests under the soft glow of festive lights. Today, as the city awakens slowly, I began my journey from home to QuodLibet Bed and Breakfast, capturing the peaceful essence of a Rome that feels like a dream.
A Silent Rome: Piazza del Popolo at Dawn
At 6:30 a.m., Piazza del Popolo, often bustling with activity, was calm and serene. The empty square, bathed in soft light, offered a breathtaking scene. Rome’s timeless beauty felt even more profound in this moment of stillness, a quiet reminder of the city’s enduring spirit.
Photo Tip: I’ll share a photo I took this morning—let its tranquility inspire your own early-morning exploration when you visit Rome.

A Warm Welcome at QuodLibet
Arriving at QuodLibet, I found our rooftop terrace illuminated and ready to welcome our guests for their Christmas breakfasts. The warmth of the terrace, surrounded by lush plants and festive decor, created a perfect haven to start the day.
The terrace is one of the many touches that make QuodLibet unique—a space where our guests can relax, enjoy fresh food, and savour the quiet beauty of a Roman morning.
Palmieri: A Sweet Stop for Christmas Morning
On the way, I stopped by Palmieri, our favourite bakery in Prati, to pick up the freshly baked cornetti that we serve to our guests. Palmieri isn’t just part of our tradition—it’s also a supplier to the Fabbrica di San Pietro, ensuring even Vatican breakfasts start with the best Rome has to offer.
Rome’s Magical Morning Glow
Christmas morning in Rome is unlike any other time of the year. The absence of traffic, the calm streets, and the golden light of dawn create an almost cinematic atmosphere. It’s a side of the city that few get to see, and we’re thrilled to share it with our guests through the thoughtful touches at QuodLibet.
Merry Christmas from QuodLibet
To all our guests—past, present, and future—Merry Christmas! May your day be filled with warmth, love, and the magic of Rome. Whether you’re enjoying breakfast on our terrace or dreaming of your next trip, know that QuodLibet is ready to welcome you with open arms and a cosy, festive atmosphere.
