From Rome to Montepulciano, one day trip

Montepulciano is a wonderful hilltop town in Tuscany in province of Siena famous for its wines and famous for its nice untouched middle age city centre.

Some of the best food and wine experiences in Italy, some of the best wine tasting possibilities, all surrounded by the magic of the Tuscan Country side.

From Rome Montepulciano can be reached both by car or by train.

In both cases you need roughly 2 hours. If by train, you should consider about staying at least one night there, because the transportation once you are in the Montepulciano area could be slow (local buses) so you need more time to enjoy properly the area.

In case you want to stay and sleep there we suggest you one of the many Agriturismo (farm Guest Houses) in the area, where you can not only sleep in the quietness of the countryside, but also taste there organic produces and wines. We suggest to choose one which offers breakfast and also the possibility to eat there. For example we have found Agriturismo “Le Stringaie”, where we have tried their wonderful home made food (from breakfast …. ) and where we slept surrounded by the peace of the the countryside. A place run by very nice and helpful people!

In case you want to do a one day trip – Rome / Montepulciano / Rome – it is also possible to book a private mini van with driver who will be bringing you to the best areas with no stress and no need to look for anything else than the landscape.
