Together with my wife Connie, we host travellers in our small hotel near the Vatican, where we enjoy meeting people from all over the world and exchanging perspectives – just as I do here in the blog.

Begin your journey at Piazza San Pietro, pass by the stunning Castel Sant’Angelo, cross the historic Ponte Sant’Angelo, and wander through the picturesque streets of Via Giulia and Via di Monserrato. Your path will lead you through Piazza dei Ricci and the elegant Piazza Farnese before arriving at Campo de’ Fiori.
Every morning, Campo de’ Fiori hosts one of Rome’s oldest open-air markets, known for its fresh produce, flowers, and local delicacies. The market has been a central feature of Roman life since the Middle Ages, and it’s the perfect spot to experience the city’s lively atmosphere.
In the center of the square stands the imposing statue of Giordano Bruno, a philosopher, mathematician, and cosmological theorist whose radical ideas on the universe, including the concept of infinite worlds, challenged the dogmatic views of his time. Bruno was condemned by the Roman Catholic Church and, after years of imprisonment, was burned at the stake in 1600 in Campo de’ Fiori by the Inquisition for heresy. His statue, unveiled in 1889, stands as a symbol of free thought and intellectual courage..
