Together with my wife Connie, we host travellers in our small hotel near the Vatican, where we enjoy meeting people from all over the world and exchanging perspectives – just as I do here in the blog.

Ladin Valleys: A Unique Cultural and Linguistic Heritage
The Ladin valleys are nestled in the heart of the Italian Alps, spanning regions of Trentino-Alto Adige and Veneto. These valleys—Val Gardena, Val di Fassa, Val Badia, Livinallongo, and Ampezzo—are home to the Ladin people, who have preserved a distinct language and culture for centuries. The Ladin language is a Romance language with roots in Latin and influences from surrounding Germanic languages, giving it a unique place in Europe’s linguistic landscape. Ladin is still spoken by residents today, taught in schools, and celebrated in local traditions, festivals, and art.
Val di Fassa in particular, one of our most cherished destinations, holds deep significance for us. Known for its majestic Dolomite peaks, vibrant culture, and friendly communities, Val di Fassa combines the beauty of Alpine nature with the charm of Ladin heritage.

In one section of our accommodation, you’ll find rooms named after the four seasons: rooms inspired by the colors and moods of spring, summer, autumn, and winter. These seasonal rooms evoke a connection to nature through their colors and decor, offering guests a space that feels both timeless and refreshing.
In another part of QuodLibet, you’ll find rooms named after areas that hold personal significance to us. The Ernica Room connects to Gianluca’s roots in Ciociaria, while the Ionica Room brings to mind Connie’s origins on the Ionian Sea coast of Calabria. Each room reflects a unique part of Italy’s geography, culture, and our own personal connections, creating an immersive experience for every guest.
