Hi, I’m Gianluca.
I studied cultural anthropology, and I’ve always been fascinated by the different ways people live, move, and experience a place.
Rome is not only my city – it’s the environment I love observing, understanding, and sharing through these small stories.
Together with my wife Connie, we host travellers in our small hotel near the Vatican, where we enjoy meeting people from all over the world and exchanging perspectives – just as I do here in the blog.
If you ever feel like saying hello while exploring Rome, you’ll find us on our terrace as well, where every morning we serve breakfast with a view.

The 25th of April, in Italy, is the Liberation day: the 25th of April 1945 is the day of the liberation from the Nazi-Fascism.
This year, for the first time in 75 years, we are celebrating this day at home.
A strange way to celebrate it, but at the same time an opportunity to think about the deep meaning of the word “liberation”: we stay at home, we are forced to stay at home to fight against a non-visible enemy. We are forced not to combat but to wait, to be passive in our actions, while we are active in our thoughts and reflections.
Unfortunately we miss a picture with a 2020 version!
We have discovered the real value of small things, like staying with our children, our families, our wives and husbands, our “travel” companions, without too many things to do..
We hope this will be a new way of Liberation. Of course, nothing to do with the courage and the sense of freedom of the “Partigiani” who did the job for all of us 75 years ago.
Here you have a fantastic video of the Frecce Tricolori flying over Rome on the 25th of April 2020. It is a 360 degrees view video. Enjoy it!
